Electical can be a scary thing to deal with, but if you keep some principals in mind it isn’t that bad. Plus there are a few projects around the house you can take care of on your own which are fairly simple.

Please don’t try and explain electrical again without double checking the terminology of common electrical devices. A socket is for screw in light bulbs. A receptacle is an outlet for cords and plugs. I understand what you are trying to say, but explaining something that is familiar to you but not to others can and will confuse others.
Good points. Thanks for the comment. I will look up more terms. Always better to say the right things when possible. Sometimes you get used to using more colloquial regional terms you forget sometimes there are proper names.
