It is all fun and games until someone loses an eye, or the top part of their pinky finger.
With the weather changing it is time to get back to fixing and building from our long winter hibernation and early spring procrastination.
In this episode I talk about safety. A few things you should consider and just generally remind you to keep safety in mind so you have a successful summer doing stuff.
Hey Buddy, one thing that I did not hear you mention was picking items/stuff up. Lift with your legs and not your back. This can cause lots of problems.
One thing I heard you say was listening to music or other things with ear buds or bluetooth hearing aids while you are working. For me there is a problem hear. If you are listen to music or podcasts or whatever while you are working it cuts down on you hearing what is going on around you. Not paying attention to a fan that running with a bad bearing or a stick that may have fallen into it. Or even worse a child that has walked up behind you and is trying to get your attention. Yes as with all things there is a time and place but you need to pay attention to what is going on around you. Example: You are welding and have your hood down but did not see the firecracker that someone threw under you. Or while cutting a board and your wife calls from the house for help because she has a stove fire and you did not hear her because of the music playing in your ears,
There was something else but can not remember what it was. But ALWAYS be alert to what is going on around you.
